Immersive sculptures. Outdoor installations. Painted clothing and couches. Experimental jewelry and tufted rugs.
When I'm not developing social media for brands, I'm making tangible art under the moniker NO DESIGN. Things like immersive sculptures. Outdoor installations. Painted clothing and couches. Experimental jewelry, and most recently: tufted rugs right out of my home studio in Bellingham, Washington.
While attending a science and technology magnet high school, I managed to avoid those two things by taking any design, art and sculpture classes I could get into. Fast-forward to college and post-college, I’ve found myself participating in public art spaces through both outdoor and indoor installations with various up-cycled mediums. Some have taken months to build (while some 24 hours). Some have been presented in shows, and some have never left my studio.
After completing a minor in jewelry and metalsmithing at Syracuse University, I was inspired by textiles and paint as wearable art objects. Shortly after graduating, I transitioned to painting jeans, shoes, accessories, and furniture when I returned to my hometown of Los Angeles.
Today, I’m the proud owner of NO DESIGN and have painted 300+ items since 2015. This has led to various creative opportunities including styling shoots, features in gallery shows, having my pieces worn on stages, in interviews, and captured by a notable Vogue photographer (landing my first independent zine cover).
My pieces are inspired by streetwear and nature. In 2020, my art career took a pause as I shifted to freelance social media consulting full-time. It was only fitting that as my career shifted, my art did as well. I picked up rug making and I'm now a proud owner of a tufting gun and a 8x10 foot tufting frame.
